Great song. I haven't seen this video. They line up the hits and beats well. Bad Religion and Voodoo from their '98 album are a couple of my personal favorites

Probably not the kind of music many here enjoy, but I just discovered this guy today and I'm impressed. I hear influences of Ryan Bingham, Townes Van Zandt, maybe even a little Dylan...lofty praise I know, but most of his songs are definitely in the storyteller genre.

Ian Noe has an old-time, good 'ol southern boy, feel. I like it. Mellow. I do hear a B Dylan twang as well. The guitar is excellent. Subtle and allows the lyrics to "tell the story" if you will. Thanks for sharing GorgeDuck! Makes me want to grab an Arnold Palmer and enjoy the summer breeze from my porch.

Check out "Tusk and Bone" from Shaman's Harvest. I think you'll like that one

Petty, Lynne, Winwood, Dhani Harrison and friggin' PRINCE doing Geo Harrison's classic. Easily my fav version of the song with Jeff "Finally Got My Props" Lynne and Petty acing the vocals and Prince just crushing the almost endless riff at the end...until he abruptly just tosses his guitar into the crowd and spontaneously walks off stage. LEGEND!

I discovered this SF duo when I was in grad school down in the Bay Area. Went to about 15 of their shows, with many of them being in dingy bars or basement clubs with only 50-100 people witnessing greatness. Still one of my all time favorite bands. In my opinion, Adam, the lead singer who wrote most of the songs, is one of the best lyricists I've ever heard...pure poetry. This isn't "make you feel good" music, but it is damn good if you don't mind music that makes you think and evokes lots of raw emotions. I had a marathon listen to all of their albums yesterday...had to share some of my favorites.

This one seems to be particularly relevant and poignant for the times we're going through right now.

Gather 'round, you wounded people
Shadows fall upon the steeple
Soon shall come the closing of
The closing of the gates

For there is word of plague among us
Curse the one whose poison stung us
All along the alleyways
The satyrs wait their fate

But who's to blame when all are guilty
Morals stained and conscience filthy
Abreast your idol replicas
Your replicas of lust
In the sky I hear the threshing
Dare to watch your lord undressing
While you beg forgiveness
You feed on his disgust

But if perhaps the salt might stain your skin
And if perhaps the smoke might weep your eyes
Listen while the threnodies begin
Know no one in here gets out alive

But let your frailty not deceive you
A little pin*****, rest relieves you
And dream of all the days that are
The years that are to come

For you will dance and you'll be nimble
Pirouettes upon a thimble
And I will be beside you
Lest I lose you once again

But if perhaps my sorrows are all show
And I should find a crack among the gates
Guilt shall follow me where'er I go
Though I try I know I can't escape

And when you're gone the earth will crumble
I will try but I will stumble
And all through these city streets
My robes shall drag the ground

Cause here the children swing with sorrow
Yesterday was once tomorrow
No more I'll be troubled by the troubles of this world

But if I lose my step along the way
And if the speech of victim fills my throat
Out beyond past the cliffs that shape the day
It's there I'll wander, there I'll stray

It's there I'll look for you when all my trials are done
I feign my speech to save my breath
This love is loss, this life is theft
And all that's left is some vain need to carry on

And though I fear the tightening of the skies
Against the dawn I'll watch you rise
Oh Lord, the company I keep within my head

The scent of flesh might tease the nose
It claims the calm, it clings the clothes

Could that be you, my love?
Your dust upon the wind?

Anyone remember the Koozies? Their first album was so good, early 2000's from Eugene.

I vaguely remember seeing them once during my time in Eugene....probably too drunk to fully remember.

On that same Taylor's stage though, I saw a Eugene band called Tympanic quite a few times (2001-2004ish). After graduating, the lead singer of that group went on to form a Portland based group called Search Party (and did some solo stuff) and the drummer went on to co-found Blind Pilot. Unfortunately I couldn't find any videos of them anywhere. I still have a couple of their CD's but haven't listened to them in years.

Hamilton Leithauser (former lead singer of The Walkmen) had a new album drop last week. Been enjoying that...not quite as solid all the way through as his last one he did with Rostam a few years ago, but there are some great tracks on it. Here's a couple of my faves.

And a couple of my favorite live performances of his with The Walkmen, just for good measure...
