ScoopDuck Top 10

October 11, 2017

Last week we made a pretty big move pushing Alabama up to No. 1 in our rankings after being at No. 4 the week before.

I didn't want anyone to be able to label me as an 'SEC-hater' just because I didn't have the Tide at No. 1.

Last weekend they beat Texas A&M with a 27-19 victory. While it wasn't as impressive, it's still a win.

My No. 2 team Clemson won a narrow game over Wake Forest by a final of 28-14. Once again, they won the game.

Which is a lot better than my No. 3 team, Oklahoma in one of the biggest upsets in college football history. The Sooners lost to Iowa State at home. Which means I have to replace someone at No. 3. Which really isn't hard.

Without further ado, here is my top ten.

1. Alabama 6-0 (1) - Another week, another win. The Tide remain one of the elite teams in the nation. Next up is a feast on Arkansas.

2. Clemson 6-0 (2) - Another no-brainer at this juncture. Clemson plays on Friday at Syracuse which should easily get them to 6-0.

3. Penn State 6-0 (4) - This was the easy and obvious replacement for Oklahoma. Last week I even noted I was itching to replace Oklahoma with Penn State, now I get to. They handled Northwestern and now they get the week off before hosting Michigan then heading to Ohio State.

4. Georgia 6-0 (5) - Georgia also moves up a spot in my rankings. They smoked Vanderbilt and get to feast on Missouri next.

5. TCU 5-0 (6) - I think West Virginia is a very good team. And they tested TCU, which is no surprise. But Gary Patterson is 5-0 and will head to K-State this weekend.

6. Washington 6-0 (7) - They throttled Cal 38-7 as expected. I'm still not sold this team would beat Ohio State, Wisconsin or even Virginia Tech, but they keep winning and I can't penalize them for that. An interesting game against Arizona State this week on the road.

7. Ohio State 5-1 (8) - They lost to Oklahoma which now looks a little more suspect. But Ohio State keeps rollling along. This week they head to Lincoln to take a shot at Mike Riley and Nebraska.

8. Wisconsin 5-0 (9) - If you want to pick on the SEC for not playing anyone, you have to pick on Wisconsin too. But they keep winning and much like Washington, I wonder just how good they are. Up next is Purdue which should make them 6-0.

9. Washington State 6-0 (UR) - One of my first new additions is the Cougs. This defense has shown its for real and I see this team getting better each week. They could still end up 'Coug'n' their season but for now they are in the group. Up next is a trip down to Cal.

10. Virginia Tech 5-1 (10) - I had them at 10 last week and they won. The only loss on the season is to Clemson. I want to put Auburn here really bad but I just couldn't do it. If Auburn beats LSU this weekend on the road I could consider it. For now Tech stays and plays North Carolina next.

Keeping Tabs On: Miami, Auburn, USC, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State
