Report: Oregon makes Softball Hire

July 8, 2018

Several reports have surfaced from reporters and media close to the Oklahoma program the Ducks have found their next softball coach.

John McKelvey of the Norman Transcript reports Oklahoma assistant softball coach Melyssa Lombardi will take over at Oregon following Mike White's departure.

Lombardi was the 2017 assistant coach of the year in Oklahoma. McKelvey notes her specialty has been working with Oklahoma's pitchers and catchers.

The Sooners have also been one of the most consistent teams in college softball the last 20 seasons. Lombardi has worked under head coach Patty Gasso for the past 21 seasons in Norman.

Lombardi will have big shoes to fill with Mike White leaving as Oregon's winningest softball coach in program history. However she will inherit a strong roster should she be able to keep those pieces in place.
