Breeland Lands on Award Watch List

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Following a breakout sophomore season in 2017, Oregon junior tight Jacob Breeland was named to the John Mackey Award Watch List on Friday. The award is presented annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end.


Breeland finished 2017 with 18 receptions for 320 yards and his five touchdowns tied for the Pac-12 lead among tight ends. The Mission Viejo, Calif. native led Oregon with seven catches of 20-plus yards, including four TDs, while 13 of his 18 receptions resulted in a first down.


His strong sophomore season earned him All-Pac-12 honorable mention status from the league head coaches, while he was twice named to the Pro Football Focus Pac-12 Team of the Week.


17.8 – Breeland ranked fourth in the Pac-12 with an average of 17.8 yards per catch among players with 15 or more receptions in 2017.
