Five Games Worth Watching

September 12, 2018

With a 2 PM kickoff for the Ducks, that means you either have the morning or afternoon to catch other games. That of course depends on if you are taking in the game from your couch or a seat inside Autzen stadium.

But like myself, I know many of you love college football. Abstolutely love college football. I treasure every Saturday and make sure I find myself near a TV for those key Thursday or Friday night games.

Of course Oregon is the marquee game of the week. But there is some quality football to watch this weekend.

Here are my five games I'm keeping close tabs on this weekend.

Full ESPN Schedule

FSU @ Syrcause - 9 AM - ESPN

You can kid yourself all you want but we both know you're going to watch this game. And if you aren't watching you'll be checking the score. FSU got a big scare against Samford last week but the overall talent and depth won out over a much inferior team. Syracuse is a better team than Stanford but still not a great one. Could Taggart be looking at 1-2 by Saturday afternoon?

17 Boise State @ 24 Oklahoma State - 12:30 PM - ESPN

I'm not sure anyone outside of Boise, Idaho is giving the Broncos the credit they deserve. I don't want to sound homerish, oh wait I don't cover Boise State, but the boys in blue look like a sure-fire top ten team. They are playing some terrific football on both sides of the ball.

Right now I would say this is not a team you want to see Oregon draw in the post-season.

12 LSU @ 7 Auburn - 12:30 PM - CBS

I'm not the biggest SEC-proponent. In fact I'm as sick of the hype the conference gets as the rest of you. But this is a top-15 matchup.  Moreover I'm anxious to see just how good Auburn is. I'm not sold even after beating UW (barely) they are a top ten program. I was really impressed with LSU however and happy to see Ed O getting his groove back. I'm watching this one to see if my thoughts about Auburn and UW are justified.

22 USC @ Texas - 5 PM - Fox

How is USC still ranked? How bad is Texas? I'm not sure putting these two against each other answers either question but I'm going to watch and find out. The Trojans need a win to keep their hopes of winning the Pac-12 South alive. No this isn't a conferenc game but Utah, ASU and Colorado are closing the gap on the South.

10 Washington @ Utah - 7 PM - ESPN

The only thing better than an Oregon win is a Husky loss. And nothing is better than an Oregon win AND a Husky loss. Utah's defense is no joke. And UW's offensive line is in trouble. Like Auburn, Utah should do well against Washington and hang in the game late. Nothing like a little Pac-12 after dark. Am I right?
