Richt Retiring from Miami

December 30, 2018

Breaking news out of Miami Sunday morning. The head coach of Miami, Mark Richt has announced his retirement.

The move had bbecome heavily discussed in the past 24 hours before Richt released a statement on the matter.

“Dear Hurricane family:

A few hours ago, I informed UM director of athletics Blake James that it is time for me to retire from coaching so I am stepping down as the head coach of UM football.”

Miami was tabbed as a pre-season top 10 but failed to finish there after a 7-6 season. The Canes were pounded by Wisconsin in the Pinstripe bowl by a final score of 35-3.

Oregon fans now focus on this search with great interest. Current head coach Mario Cristobal is a former Miami assistant and player winning two national championships in 1989 and 1991 as an offensive tackle.

His name is an instant link in the search that is merely a few hours old at this point. We will monitor this situation as Oregon takes on Michigan State on Monday in the Redbow bowl.
