Arroyo Talks Spring Ball

March 11, 2019

In order for Oregon to click this season the offense will need to be hitting on all cylinders. Last year the offense saw growth in some areas along with some regression in others after injuries and drops.

Justin Herbert is back and of course a Heisman hopeful as well as a potential early NFL draft pick.

Marcus Arroyo spoke with media on Monday after the second day of Spring practice. We offer up the highlights with the video also included.

On Offseason Work:

“We utilize the cut ups. Evaluating every game. We use some good analytics that help us put together our binder. That’s always the best part of the offseason is going back to our cut ups and finding out what went wrong, what we didn’t like. It’s really thorough. Sometimes we get hung up on things we really like, but if it wasn’t really good, we have to scrap it.”

How Much Install Early On:

“Get the new guys, staff and new guys acclimated. Make sure they can comprehend enough to get an eval on them early. It’s really core stuff early on and teaching guys how to practice.”

On Cale Millen:

Their bodies are starting to change. You’re going to see the changes in their body. He’s smart, he’s really smart. He’s in the office all of the time. Football’s really important to him and that’s what you want.”

On Incoming Freshmen:

“Through technology they’ve already been able to watch both of our practices. They’ll get acclimated a lot faster. They are getting as much as we can give them.”

On relationship with Herbert:

“Each year we’ve taken a little different appraoch. We’re really comfortable around each other. But not too comfortable. What are 1 or 2 things I can really find and get him to work on. We worked on one foot thing today we’ve been working on the last two years.”

On New WR Coach Bouknight and Young WR’s:

“I think coach Bo has done a good job. The returning guys are coming back with an advanced demeanor. The young guys Delgado and Addison are stepping in. Bryan has had a couple of good days of practice. JJ Tucker is in there right now. Those guys are jumping in there right away. YOu start to shrink that gap from most committed to least committed and it’s good stuff.”
