Steele to Transfer to Oregon

May 14, 2019

The Ducks are about to put an absolute cherry on its 2019 recruiting class. A class that was the highest ranked in program history on National Signing day.

***Steele on Oregon: “It was a no-brainer.”***

***Eval: How will Steele fit in at Oregon?***

Chris Steele has announced his intent to sign with Oregon following his departure from Florida. Steele has been in a much publicized transfer from Gainesville the past week. Oregon, like others immediately got in touch with the former 4-Star to try and lure him in.

Coming out of St. John Bosco (Calif.) Steele was the No. 42 ranked player and No. 5 cornerback nationally in the 247Sports Composite.

Steele enrolled early at Florida so he was already technically a part of the program. He also went through Spring ball and could be subject to sitting a year under transfer rules. A waiver with the NCAA will be filed by the Steele family hoping to grant him immediate eligibility.

Had Steele signed with Oregon originally, the Ducks would have ended the 247Sports class rankings at No. 5 overall. Oregon finished No. 7 without the signing of Steele.

Steele is expected to arrive on campus soon to start training with the Ducks in the offseason.
