Oregon Football Debut at No. 7 in Initial Playoff Rankings

November 5, 2019

The initial college football rankings are out and the Ducks are in. Well at least in the top ten for now.

Oregon has been a consistent top ten team the past few weeks in the AP top 25 and USA Today coaches polls. On Sunday they were ranked the No. 7 team in both, one spot behind Georgia, the first 1-loss team in the rankings.

Most wondered if the playoff committee, led by Oregon AD Rob Mullens, would have the same feeling about the Ducks.

For Oregon it becomes a matter of winning the rest of the games this season and a conference championship. They might need a bit of help along the way but we’ll see how this season plays out.

Oregon's final games include, hosting Arizona after the bye, on the road at ASU and the finale with Oregon State in Eugene with a likely trip to the Pac-12 conference championship game to follow.

Here is the initial top ten of the playoff rankings released on ESPN Tuesday night.

10. Florida

9. Oklahoma

8. Utah

7. Oregon

6. Georgia

5. Clemson

4. Penn State

3. Alabama

2. LSU

1. Ohio State

(Auburn debuted at No. 12)
