Oregon takes on Arizona State at Matthew Knight Arena at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The game is on the Pac-12 Networks.

Oregon will be looking to win its third consecutive conference game after dropping the opener against Colorado. The Ducks beat Arizona in an overtime thriller Thursday, and they’ll be looking to assert themselves as the best team in the conference.

Arizona State comes in at 1-1 in the conference, with a lopsided loss to Arizona but a solid win over Oregon State in Corvallis. At 10-5 on the season, a win tonight could set the Sun Devils up as a possible tournament team.

As in recent years, Arizona State is led by two high-scoring guards.

Remy Martin (1), Point Guard

The 6-0, 170-pound junior has been a scoring machine, averaging 18.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He’s shooting a solid 43.9 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from deep.

Martin also averages 2.1 steals per game -- which doesn’t quite lead the nation, but it's close. He’s super quick and uses his athleticism to help create decent shots at the rim.

While not an elite three-point shooter, he’s good enough that teams are forced to close out on him on the perimeter.

Alonzo Verge Jr. (11), Shooting Guard

The 6-3, 167-pound junior has been a solid contributor, averaging 13.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists. He’s shooting 40.9 percent from the field but only 19.4 percent from beyond the arc.

While not a deep-ball threat, Verge is a terrific finisher. He uses his height and speed to create just enough separation to get off decent shots.

Verge has exploded before, scoring 43 in a game in mid-December. And he has tallied over 19 points three other times this season, so he has the potential for a big night anytime he steps on the court.

This is a huge game for Oregon, as the Ducks are looking to start conference play 3-1. A win tonight would put them solidly in second place, behind only a 3-0 Stanford team that they’ll face on February 1.

It’s going to be a fun one at MKA. I’ll be at the game and running the live gamer thread for you guys.
