Dana Altman Previews Colorado

February 13, 2020

On Wednesday Oregon basketball head coach Dana Altman met with media. The Ducks host a key Pac-12 matchup with Colorado Thursday night in Eugene.

The last time these two teams tangled in early January and the Buffs gave Oregon an 0-1 start to the season in Pac-12 play. While the women avenged a loss to ASU on Sunday, it’s time for the men to get their revenge as well.

Below are a few quotes from Dana Altman on tonight’s game and his team.

On Colorado:

“Very experienced team. When you come into a season and get 95-percent of your scoring back, 95-percent of your rebounding back you have a head start on everybody. Their front line is very good. It’s a good group.”

On Rebounding/Interior Defense:

“We haven’t done a good job inside defensively. Teams know that. We just got to do a better job. Our freshman haven’t come along as quickly as I wanted. We got to get better and our guys got to get better.”

On Fouls:

“We pick up all our fouls reaching in. We’re not getting any physicality fouls. I just don’t like the foul we’re getting. We just got to get more physical.”

On Chandler:

“So so. He’s a big part of what we want to do. He’s one of the guys that has to get more physical.”

On N’Faly Dante:

“He’s not going to play. I was hoping we might get him back this weekend. He’s practicing a little. He just doesn’t feel like he’s ready yet.”

What’s on the Line:

“We still control our own destiny if we win. If we don’t win we need some help. We’re going to have to play well. It’s going to take a great effort on our part.”

On Late Season Surges:

“Every team is different. I tell our guys that. There’s no magic wand. Every team decides how they want to finish. I hope they don’t think it’s just going to happen. It’s whether they get it done or not.”
