Oregon WBB Headed to Pac-12 Finals

March 7, 2020

Kelly Graves challenged his ladies to up the effort after a bit of a lackluster win over Utah on Friday. It really says something about your team when a 20 point win can feel disappointing.

Arizona presented a different challenge Saturday night for Oregon. The Wildcats play tough defense and managed to keep things close well into the later portion of the game. Oregon took a 43-33 lead into the half after a bit of a sluggish offensive start. The third quarter was also tight with Oregon only outscoring Arizona by a single point sending us to the 4th quarter with a score of 67-56.

The Pac-12’s sixth player of the year, Taylor Chavez would turn in one of her better performances of the season and spark the start of an Oregon run. Sabrina Ionescu didn’t turn in a triple-double perfromance statistically, but she wasn’t far from it. The Pac-12 player of the year would lead Oregon with a 31 point, 7 assist, 9 rebound game. Ruthy Hebard would ‘double up’ however with 14 points and 11 rebounds Saturday night.

Arizona’s Aarion McDonald would lead all scorers with a big 34-point game however, nearly half of Arizona’s total points.

Kelly Graves seemed overall pleased with his teams effort and offered a lot of praise for Arizona.

Oregon will play the winner of Stanford vs UCLA Sunday at 5 PM (PST). The game is expected to air on the Pac-12 network.
