Chatter Box: Football Recruiting Q&A

June 23, 2020

It’s been a bit of a quiet last few days. Which is to be expected considering it’s been a heck of a May and June for the Ducks on the recruiting trail.

Mario Cristobal has utilized this ‘down time’ as effectively as one could expect during a unique situation. Oregon has one of the top-ranked classes in the country and could be adding to it the next couple of weeks.

Football is on the horizon with players returning to Eugene for voluntary workouts. I want to take this time to serve as a reminder or perhaps an explanation.

Players are returning to Eugene from all corners of the country. They were under their own supervision and under different city and state rules. Meaning Oregon could have some players test positive for Covid-19 upon return. That is simply beyond Oregon (Mario Cristobal’s) control. The important part to remember is Oregon is taking every precaution to ensure player safety first and foremost.

I know there are whispers/rumors that some Oregon students tested positive. If those happen to be football players it is not necessarily because they started working out at Oregon. More than likely those players were not tested prior to their arrival in Eugene.

It’s just something to keep in mind as we navigate these uncharted waters with level heads and open minds.

Now, fire away.
