Zooming: Keanu Williams

July 26, 2020

The recent additions of 2021 prospects Keanu Williams and Christian Burkhalter adds to a diverse and talented group of players pouring into the defensive trenches.

Williams, a 4-star and the No. 31 player in California, held more than 20 offers. And like many players in this pandemic, he committed without ever having set foot on campus.

Williams had been a Duck lean for some time. He chose Oregon over multiple Pac-12 finalists in his home state of California.

With numerous players on route to reinforce future front sevens, Oregon can focus on even bigger targets: 5-star Korey Foreman and JT Tuimoloau. I love the strategy: Secure the foundational players early, then swing for the fences with elite prospects who often decide later on.

I caught up with the Clovis native on Zoom to learn more about what went into his decision; how the staff plans to use the 6-5, 290-pounder; and his choice to skip his senior season and enroll early at Oregon.
