Monday Rundown: Oregon Commit Adds 5th Star

It’s Monday and time to take a look back at the top and few stories of the last week. While football is on pause in the Pac-12, there remains some stories to follow.

Recruiting is a bit more limited at the moment but that could soon change. As we transition from Summer to Fall recruits could inch their way closer to a decision. Especially if there ends up being no all-star games to play in January.

We’ve got a few things to cover including the biggest storyline so far, a new 2021 offer from the Ducks.

Ducks Offer 2021 Safety

In case you missed it last week, Oregon made a new 2021 offer. It’s definitely something worth monitoring as Oregon has not made many 2021 offers in the last two months. With most of the class filled up, the Ducks have very few spots to fill but safety is one of those spots.

Enter Franklin high (Md.) star Daymon David. The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder has a strong collection of offers which now includes Oregon. Jonathan caught up with David following the offer and it sounds like the Ducks are square in the mix now.

This is something worth monitoring as Oregon needs at least two safeties in this class and don’t have any committed.

Big Jump for Ty Thompson

Rivals recently started updating its five-stars and there is a new name on the list. Oregon quarterback commit Ty Thompson was a new introduction to the five-star grouping on Rivals Monday. Coming in at No. 17 overall is a big boost for Oregon’s quarterback commit.

North Dakota State Plays After All

Monday morning Pete Thamel reported the Bison had scheduled a game with Central Arkansas. NDSU has one of the top quarterbacks in the country in Trey Lance, who is garnering strong NFL draft attention.

NDSU was Oregon’s first game of the season before changes to the schedule were made.

This game was scheduled for Oct. 3 and will be interesting to see how it plays out or plays at all with the Pac-12 and Big-10 postponing.

Backs Against the Wall

The Portland Trailblazers opened up their playoff series strong with a big win over the LA lakers last week. Since then the Blazers have gone 0-2 and now face elimination from the playoffs.

Monday night at 6 PM (PST) the two will tangle once again. Can the Blazers even things up and keep the season alive? They will have to find an answer for Anthony Davis and Lebron James if they are hoping to play on.

Monday’s game will air on NBC Sports and TNT.

Big SEC offer for WR Target

Last week wide receiver Don’te Thornton landed a massive SEC offer. The four-star Oregon target pulled in an offer from Georgia. It will be interesting to see if that has any impact on things as the Ducks are the perceived heavy favorite.

Thornton is a key target in this 2021 class for Oregon and has recently admitted he might be enrolling mid-year. He’s currently planning on announcing at the All-American bowl in January. It remains to be decided if that game will happen and if he’ll be able to wait that long.

5-Star Hooper Transfers

The top player in the state of Oregon for basketball will not play in the state. With Fall and Winter sports postponed at the high school level, 5-Star Nate Bittle has elected to play at Prolific Prep in Northern California.

Prolific is not expected to play a season as well but could travel the AAU circuit or schedule scrimmages with other top programs. Not to mention the roster is loaded and will provide great competition for him on a daily basis to get ready for college basketball.

Bittle is down to UCLA, Oregon, Arizona and Gonzaga in his recruitment.
