QUUUUAAAAACCCCCKKKKK - Ducks Land 5-Star Hoop Commit

September 15, 2020

Oregon has landed a massive commitment from in-state 5-star center Nathan Bittle, who played last season at 5A Crater.

According to 247Sports, Bittle is the 17th overall player in his class and the No. 3 center. He has a Composite score of 0.9950.

Bittle’s is Oregon first commitment for 2021. The 6-10, 175-pounder was pretty quiet during his recruitment, but of late the crystal balls have flooded in.

Dana Altman’s newest commit is quite an intriguing prospect. He’s not the traditional center, but instead uses his length and athleticism to create good shots.

The 5-Star is not going to be a big body in the paint; he is more of a stretch 5. His versatility will allow Oregon to be creative with its lineups, as he could even be on the court alongside a true center.

He shoots well from midrange, where he uses his length to get the ball over defenders. If he’s able to develop a more consistent three-point shot, he could be a match-up nightmare.

Bittle could have an immediate impact, as the Ducks' only true center with game experience is N’Faly Dante. Isaac Johnson, a 6-11 4-star who has returned from a church mission, is also projected to be on the roster in 2021.

He is a good ball-handler, too. While he’ll never be the guy taking the ball up the court, having a guy with his length who could potentially drive and create looks from the wing is huge.

Bittle is also an interesting defensive prospect. Oregon has had a bunch of shot blockers in recent years, and it appears the nation’s No. 17 player could continue that tradition.
