Scoop N Zoom: Oregon commit Jeffrey Bassa

November 16, 2020

We’ve been in a bit of a recruiting lull lately, and understandably so. With the recruiting dead period still in place, recruits are limited to phone calls, Zoom calls, and text messages to help them make agruably their most important decision to date.

In September, after Oregon landed Baltimore area safety Daymon David, recruiting experts were curious as to how the Ducks world complete their 2021 class.

The staff wanted another safety, and Jeffrey Bassa fit the bill: a longer, faster DB. The Ducks entered the picture with an offer in April and were instant contenders.

Rated a 3-star (0.8648 on the 247Sports Composite), the top 10 Utah prospect drew heavy interest from Pac-12 schools but also reeled in offers from schools as far away as Syracuse and Louisville.

Bassa's decision came down to Oregon, Oklahoma State and the in-state Utah Utes.  With early signing day fast approaching and many of the Ducks’ top-rated pledged set to both sign and enroll early, I wanted to sit down with him to learn about what separated Oregon from the rest of the pack.

Before you view the video, a small disclaimer. I had some technical issues with my Zoom recording, and for some reason you can’t see me during the interview.

Nevertheless, I thought it would be a great conversation to share. I hope to avoid that snag moving forward.
