Report: Andy Avalos Headed to Boise State

January 8, 2021

One of the constants of Mario Cristobal’s coaching staff is change. Which is a testament to the hires Cristobal has made as head coach at Oregon.

***Oregon DC Hot Board***

This time his defensive coordinator, Andy Avalos, has reportedly accepted a head coaching job at his alma mater, Boise State. It was a move many fans expected to happen at some point. However when Bryan Harsin accepted a job as Auburn’s next head coach last week, that move sped up into warp speed.

While Boise State vetted several candidates, they settled on Avalos. Two years ago Mario Cristobal was able to lure him from Boise to become his defensive coordinator following Jim Leavitt. He now returns as the head honcho for the Broncos.

We will have more on this story and a hot board of candidates posted on ScoopDuck once this move has been made official.
