Keith Heyward Will Not Return to Oregon

Oregon safety coach and co-DC Keith Heyward will no longer be a part of the program. In a statement released on Twitter moments ago, Heyward announced his plans not to return next season. 

There have been strong mentions of him joining the staff at Cal with Oregon recently hiring Tim DeRuyter from the Bears. Although this was not discussed in his statement posted on Twitter.

A number of Oregon assistants are at the end of their two year contracts that end on January 31. Heyward was twice considered for the vacant defensive coordinator positions at Oregon but did not get the job.

He was a big part of Oregon’s return to success on the recruiting trail helping the Ducks secure Jevon Holland and Kayvon Thibodeaux among others.
