Quarterback Tyler Shough announced Friday that he's played his last game at Oregon and will enter the transfer portal.

Shough becomes the second Oregon quarterback to hit the portal since the end of the season. Cale Millen made the call last month.

Shough shared his decision on Twitter.

As the starting quarterback in 2021, Shough threw for 1,559 yards and 13 touchdowns to go against 6 interceptions. He had his best game of the season in a thrilling 38-35 win over UCLA, throwing for 334 yards and 3 touchdowns, completing 63.3% of his passes.

Shough’s career stats at Oregon over 15 games: 1,703 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, 6 interceptions on 65% completion rate. He finished with 282 rushing yards and 2 rushing scores.

Shough showed promise early in the season, flourishing in Joe Moorhead’s new offense. He routinely scrambled out of the pocket on broken plays, averaging 4.1 yards per carry as one of the stronger rushing quarterbacks to come through Eugene in recent years.

No. 12 committed to Oregon as a 4-star recruit from Hamilton High School in Chandler (Ariz.) He was ranked the No. 7 pro-style quarterback and the No. 1 player in Arizona.

One of the top throwers in his class, he competed in the 2017 Elite 11 quarterback competition against such household names like Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. He initially committed to North Carolina, but flipped his commitment just days after visiting Oregon.

The move makes super senior Anthony Brown is likely the favorite to win the job. The Boston College trasnfer showed flashes in the Ducks’ last two games. After the season, Mario Cristobal said the quarterback competition will be wide open, adding that he planned to create opportunities for everyone on the roster to compete.

Barring another transfer in or out, that battle will now be between Brown, Jay Butterfield and Robby Ashord, and early enrollee Ty Thompson, a prep all-American.
