Oregon was looking for a bounce back win against Stanford on Thursday. Dana Altman tweaked the starting lineup a bit, starting Eric Williams Jr. in place of Chandler Lawson. Daejon Davis got the start for Stanford in place of the injured Oscar da Silva who was ruled out late.

Stanford got things going with a couple of quick buckets, including a 3-pointer from Davis. The Ducks looked a bit sloppy offensively to start the game with Williams Jr. forcing shots. Chris Duarte had the first highlight play of the night for Oregon with big chase down block after Eugene Omoruyi’s pass was stolen and looked like a sure layup on the other end.

Daejon Davis continued his strong start with 3-point shooting in his first start since mid January. Chris Duarte was active in the passing lanes and his steals helped get easy transition buckets. Ball movement helped establish a rhythm and knock-down 3-point shooting from LJ Figueroa and Duarte helped fuel an 8-0 run. Oregon took its first lead 18-17 midway through the first half.

Stanford got a little sloppy as the half wound down and Oregon took full advantage. Eric Williams was getting going with 5 points and Omoruyi continued his consistent play, drawing charges in the process. Duarte and Figueroa were on the same page pushing the ball in transition and the St. John’s transfer was the leading scorer at half with 13 points.

Oregon led 33-28 at the half.

Stanford came out of the gates strong and was quick to steal the lead following Oregon turnovers that resulted in quick layups. Chris Duarte took a shot to the head, specifically his eye and was checked out by the medical staff. He would return to the game shortly after.

Omoruyi closed in on double figures with his first 3-pointer of the game. Daejon Davis was perfect for much of the game, and didn’t miss a shot until late in the second half.

Oregon started trapping and it led to turnovers. Fouls were kept to a minimum in this one, and Oregon’s first free throws came with 12:50 remaining.

Projected top-10 NBA draft pick Ziaire Williams picked things up for the Stanford offense with a 3-pointer to help put together a 7-0 run. Chris Duarte hit a sweet corner 3-pointer with a defender right in his face and continued to will the offense forward. He followed that up with a poster slam all over Spencer Jones.

The Cardinal was pouring it on from distance, and finished the night shooting 47.1% from three. Duarte wouldn’t let the Ducks go away, and couldn’t miss in his seventh game scoring more than 20 points this season.

Will Richardson hit a huge three for his first points of the game with 6:40 left. Omoruyi had a crucial steal and was determined to make Stanford battle for every basket. Duarte made both of his one-and-one free throws with a little over 1:00 left put the Ducks up by  69-66.

Delaire continued to score down low for a balanced Stanford effort. Chris Duarte had the chance to deliver the dagger and missed a long 3-pointer. Eric Williams Jr. chased down the long rebound and Altman called a timeout with 11.8 seconds left.

Stanford fouled Duarte after the next inbound play to send him to the line. Duarte split the following freethrows and the Ducks had two fouls to give before the Cardinal would be in the bonus.

Duarte fouled Daejon Davis with under :05 to go. Ziaire Williams launched a corner three before Oregon could foul and barely missed. Omoruyi got the board and went to the line after being fouled.

He would make one of two free throws and Oregon would win 71-68 to escape Palo Alto with a win and keep its conference championship hopes alive .
